The 50th anniversary of Abies IUFRO unit

The first overall fir conference was held in Sapporo (Japan). The main aim of the conference was to bring knowledge on fir species together. The experts and scientists from many countries of the world shared their knowledge on ecology and silviculture of different Abies species.

After 3 years we will meet in Krakow (Poland) to continue exchange of knowledge and experiences on Abies species from gene and species level to population and ecosystem level. In this conference we welcome contributions in the following topics:

  • silviculture of fir species in changing environment
  • management of fir forests in different environmental conditions
  • phylogeny and gene exchange among Abies species
  • protection and conservation of Abies species in changing environment

How to get to the conference venue?

You can use city buses 105 and 129  from the Krakow Main Station and travel to the bus stop "Uniwersytet Rolniczy" (approximately 5-6 minutes). Please, remember to validate your ticket even if you have bought it in the vendor machine located in the bus!

Information for presenters.

Oral presentation
Oral presentation files should be uploaded at the registration desk on 27th May (Monday) or 28th May (Tuesday morning). Files must be in PowerPoint format (.ppt or .pptx) and should be labelled as follows: “Presenter’s Surname_Presenter's Name_Title”.
Each oral presentation is 12 minutes long with a three minute questions and answers.

Poster presentation
Poster presenters may put up their posters for display on the poster-boards on 27th May (Monday) or 28th May (Tuesday) and posters will be on display till 14 June (Thursday). All posters should not exceed A0 portrait dimensions, or approximately 120 cm by 85 cm. Presenters will be provided with materials to attach the posters to the poster-boards.
The poster session will be held at 4:15 pm on 28th May (Tuesday) in the main hall of the Forestry Faculty. Presenters should be available by their posters for presentation during the poster session.
